Ballet

The FineLine ballet curriculum embraces sound ballet principles and incorporates elements of the French, Italian, Russian, and Balanchine schools of training. The program aims to train dance students to use their bodies correctly, focusing on kinetics and coordination, as well as anatomy and proper body alignment.

Artistically, the curriculum strives to provide dance students with a rich knowledge of classical ballet technique and the ability to adapt to all styles and techniques of dance. Our ballet program is divided into 8 levels according to the student’s ability. Students, as young as 3, may begin in our preballet program. Students can expect to spend two to three years in each upper ballet level perfecting their technique and developing their craft. Disciplined year-long students can expect to begin pointe work at the age of 11 and are required to take three ballet classes per week. The majority of our students are able to reach level 6 by the age of seventeen/eighteen.

Our levels are meant as a guideline for students and teachers. Students with advanced abilities will be assigned to an appropriate level on an individual basis.

We offer a supplemental ballet program for those in Level 4 and up who are interested in seeking additional preprofessional training. Two additional ballet classes are available for these students and are scheduled in the early afternoon. More information and registration can be found here.
